Doing Good Foundation builds homes and futures for local families in need.
Our rent-then-own program helps those
who don't have a deposit, but are
willing to work hard, into home ownership.
Our whanau. This is who it's all about.
The Doing Good Foundation works with local BOP families in genuine need to help them achieve home ownership.
It does this by partnering with them for up to 5 years.
Families must put in 500 hours of their own labour to help build the home, this is called sweat equity. Once completed, our families rent the property from the Doing Good Foundation and, if they keep to their tenancy agreement,
the Doing Good Foundation will gift back all the net rents (after deducting operating costs e.g. rates, insurance, repairs etc.).
The gifted back rent is used as a deposit for the purchase of the home.
The gift usually happens after 5 years, but can be sooner. This enables the family to raise a bank mortgage for the balance, purchase the home from The Doing Good Foundation and complete their journey to home ownership

The Doing Good Foundation runs a very lean operation to ensure the maximum funding goes to our Housing Families Programme.
It could not be possible without the support of local businesses and community.
